As my final video assignment I have done three mini tutorials on Edmodo. I am not a writer on our team wiki page so I sent the embed text to someone who is. In case he doesn't get a chance to include those, here they are also...

Week 4 PL Garage Band
Ok, so that wasn't such a great podcast, but I'm still learning!! Now I understand the timeline, which helps a lot and I have seen some interesting features that I'm not sure how I'll be implementing them. I do want to create some podcasts for my students to use to refresh and scaffold. I'll keep updating you as I learn and practice more.

Week 4 PE Garage Band
I have used Garage Band once or twice to create simple podcasts, but I am completely clueless about all the nuances of creating podcasts or any of the other uses it is intended for. I'll be using Lynda.com to do some tutorials to learn more about the different ways I can use garageband both for podcasting and other things.

Week 3 PE_iMovie
iMovie has been a weakness for me and I really want to perfect these skills. I have done the selecting clips, adding music, voiceover and transitions. From what I have seen and heard from my fellow students, there is so much more creativity available with this application. My plan is to review some tutorials and practice, and see what I can come up with. More coming...
BP8_Prezi
http://prezi.com/
Prezi is a FREE online presentation creation site. It is so much more creative than keynote or powerpoint. I will utilize this site to create this week's commercial, so check it out. It allow creating of layers and showing connections in ways that are so much more fluid. There are multiple types of subscriptions available to users including a free public license, one step up, which they call "enjoy" for $59 a year and the "pro" subscription for $159 a year. What I found even more fun was they offer the "enjoy" subscription to teachers and students for free. All you need to do is register your school or district domain with them. This includes 500mb of storage for your prezis.
It is called the "zooming" presentation because that is how it creates the layers and connections. It is as if you are creating a presentation board of unlimited size and then zooming to the different points as you are discussing them. It is a lot more fun to watch than just screenflow, or a powerpoint, even with the different animations that you can do with powerpoint. I don't think I'll use another software for my presentations for a while.
It does take some time and practice to get to know how it works best, but it does offer a lot of flexibility. I especially like being able to see the big picture in addition to the little details.

BP4_Edmodo
I have started using Edmodo with my students. Edmodo is a free educational communication site. Teachers can create a profile without having a code to join. Students must have a code from a teacher to create a profile and join a site. Once they have a profile, they can add groups (classes) just by getting the code for the new class. It is a fantastic site that allows for frequent communication between teachers, teachers and students and students to students. The teacher who formed the group/class has control over who joins and stays a member of the class, and can delete or edit any entries made.
It has a calendar that can communicate with the different groups and assignments can be graded and responded to online.
Overall, it has become a great tool for my students. They have been working with upcoming vocabulary as a previewing tool. They are learning how to respectfully respond to their peers ideas.
